About SchoolPTC

SchoolPTC is an Online Web application used to register for school parent-teacher conferences. The application was designed by a high school computer teacher in an effort to streamline the conference registration process.

The application is role based. This means that all of the module users are assigned a user role of either parent, teacher, or office staff, and the user's assigned role determines what he or she is able to view and do within the module. Within the application, relationships are established between parents, students, and teachers. This means that when a parent logs in to SchoolPTC, he or she sees a list of only those teachers that have an association with his or her child. This makes it easy to schedule a conference with the right teacher. Some schools have more than one teacher with the same name. Sometimes student schedules change. By keeping the information current in the SchoolPTC database, school administrations no longer have to mail home letters to parents listing the child's teachers. Parents don't have to wonder with which teachers to schedule appointments.

Here is a simplified version of how a parent would use this software:

  1. To schedule an appointment, click the “Schedule an Appointment" link.
  2. Select a teacher from the list by clicking the teacher’s name.
  3. Select a conference time by clicking the link for the time you want to schedule an appointment.
  4. Verify the student’s last name and first name in the appropriate fields, and click the “Submit” button.
  5. A pop-up window will let you know if the appointment was successfully scheduled. Click the OK button, and you will be taken to your appointment list.
  6. Click the Return to main menu link, and then schedule another appointment.

Parents receive email confirmations of all appointments they schedule. If no appointments are available, or if parents prefer a telephone conference, they may use the module to send a message to the individual teacher. Parents also may print a list of their conference schedules, and they may cancel appointments they no longer wish to keep.

When teachers login, they see a list of their current appointments, which they may sort by clicking any column header. They may also print their schedules at any time.

Administrative office staff users have full contol of the content stored in the database. They may create conferences and modify information pertaining to existing conferences, such as the date and time of a conference, the time interval of each appointment, and when scheduled breaks will occur. They may add, edit and delete parent, student, and teacher information. Office staff may schedule and cancel appointments, and they may modify existing appointments.

There is no other software of this kind available on the market. Other applications that are similar in nature are not as sophisticated or scalable as SchoolPTC. If you feel that this software would be useful for your school, please contact one of our representatives to schedule a demonstration and to receive pricing information.
